چکیده

With the recent demonstration of the migration of phthalate ester plasticizers from vinyl plastic biomedical devices (1-4), its identification in human and animal tissues (5, 6), and evidence for its ubiquitous distribution in the environment (7, 8),tt it has become necessary to reevaluate the toxicologic potential of this class of chemical compounds. Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), as an example of the most widely used of the phthalate esters, deserves particular emphasis. In general, the phthalate esters have been reported to have a low order of acute toxicity (9-11). For example, of eight different phthalate esters examined in one study, the intraperitoneal LD50 dose in mice ranged from 1.5 to 14.2 g/kg. In rats, the intraperitoneal LD50 of DEHP has been reported by several investigators to range from 2 to 31 g/kg. One report

Extraction, localization, and metabolism of di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate from PVC plastic medical devices.

The results of our studies on the extraction and disposition of three plasticizing substances which are extracted from poly(vinyl chloride) medical devices will be reported. The plasticizers are di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), di-2-ethylhexyl adipate (DEHA), and butylglycolyl butyl phthalate (BGBP). DEHP extraction will be described in greater detail, and the two other plasticizers, DEHA and ...

Investigation of Di-ethylhexyl Phthalate Migration by Applying Magnetic Solid Phase Extraction Method Followed by GC-FID Determination

Background and Objectives: The addition of plasticizers (mainly phthalates and adipates) makes plastic flexible and popular for packaging, storing and preserving food, water, and so on. The most widely used plasticizer in food contact applications is di-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) though being suspected to have carcinogenic and estrogenic properties. The aim of this study is application of magn...

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) on testicular spermatid number per gram testis (TSN), daily sperm production (DSP), count, motility, viability, morphology, and chromatine quality of epididymal sperm. Materials and Methods: The protocol for DEHP administration was that adult male NMRI mice (the age group of 4 weeks) received 29 D...

Investigation of Toxicological Effects of di-2-ethylhexyl with Fish Embryo Test (FET) in Zebrafish (Danio rerio)

Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) is a plasticizer in a variety of consumer products. Given the adverse toxicity effects of DEHP on living organisms, its high consumption and dispersal has been caused a serious concern. . Nowedays, the Fish Embryo Test (FET) method is widely used among the conventional methods of toxicology .The aim of the this study was to determine the acute toxicity of Di(2-e...

Risk of Phthalate Exposure among Hospitalized Patient via Intravenous Fluids Receiving

Background: Phthalates are widely used as plasticizers in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) products. Several pharmaceutical products have been stored in PET containers, and due to serious health effects of phthalates, migration levels of them into pharmaceutical products must be determined. In the present study, leaching levels of four common phthalate esters including di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP...
